Megan
Written by DonnaAnn Ward   Directed by Tanya Kane-Parry

Megan is based on a young woman, the last in a long line of deeply damaged women who paired and
reproduced with highly unsuitable men at very young ages: partly as a means to escape their
families, partly as a way to ease their own pain, partly for reasons known only to themselves. Megan
is talented, easy to like, wise, gentle and doing her best to find a way to break the chain into which
she was born. As of our last conversation, she and her husband are together, building a solid life and
raising their son, whom they love very much.

Votre Voix

Once upon a time, I met a man and fell madly in love. The mere sound of his voice lit me up like
Christmas. Our time together was emotionally intense, sexually Utopian, tender, vibrant and fun. But
unwinding in the background of this hot affair was the fact of my father. Athletic until the very day he
had a stroke, my father has been left to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair. There are times when
he seems lost. He who was always so vital and funny often falls silent now, quietly arranging his
withered body or silently staring into space. The frighteningly black and white contract of the virility of
my lover’s body with the paralysis of my father’s gave shape to this piece, the name of which
translates from the French as ‘Your Voice’.

The Bloomers

Growing up the youngest child in a large, mildly insane family, I was animated, easily charmed and
often at the mercy of people older than myself, as is the fate of all last born. Annually my family
attended a State Police picnic at a lake in the middle of verdant Maryland farmland, even though
none of us were State Troopers. That pretty much sums us up as a clan. While I have fond memories
of Cascade Lake, there was one summer that my fledgling little view of the world changed: sometimes
in life you just stand on your own and deal with it because the only person it matters to is you.
